We have learned of rumors on the Internet suggesting the 2010 COLA will significantly increase VA compensation on December 1, 2010. This is not true. There is currently a bill before Congress, "The Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2010", HR 4667, addressing a COLA for VA benefits. The bill can be viewed in its entirety at http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-4667. As required by law, any COLA for VA recipients will be equivalent to that of Social Security and based on the percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index.
