1. In order for our office to process VA Forms 26-8937, Verification of VA Benefit-Related Indebtedness, more expeditiously, we offer the following suggestions:
- Complete all applicable blocks legibly and have the veteran sign the form. DO NOT fill out the part under “FOR VA USE ONLY”.
- Forms can be mailed to our office at the above address or faxed to 404-929-5558. This fax number is reserved for Indebtedness Letters only. We will return the completed form by fax.
- We will accept a faxed form in the loan package so there is no need to request the original form.
- If the form is faxed, include the lender’s name, phone number and fax number on a cover sheet. Also include the name of a contact person at your office.
- If you are using overnight delivery and are requesting overnight return, please use FedEx or UPS. We do not have an Airborne drop box at our office and we must call them to schedule pickups.
- If the Indebtedness Letter is for an unmarried, surviving spouse, the deceased veteran’s name and social security number should be on the form. Example: Jane Smith, SSN 123-45-6789, surviving spouse of Bill Smith (veteran), SSN 987-65-4321.
- Submit the form at the time of loan origination to ensure receipt prior to closing.
