Condo/Builder Approval

All properties designated as "new," "proposed," or "under" construction must have a valid builder identification number to be processed. Before ordering the appraisal, please be sure to check our approved builder page. This is found under the condopudbuilder (CPB) program available under Applications in the Veterans Information Portal (VIP). If the builder is approved, this number should be included on the 1805 order form.

If the builder is not yet approved, please provide the following documents to the builder. Once the forms have been completed, fax all documents to the St. Paul Construction and Valuation Department for review. Our fax number is (612)970-5499. The turnaround time for processing is approximately two days

In addition, the builder must complete, on his or her own letterhead, the certifications found in Figure 1 of Chapter 10 of the VA Lender's Handbook, page 10-30 (Word document).

All condominium projects must be approved by VA, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) or the Department of Agriculture. For VA condominium approval information, please see Chapter 16 of the VA Lender's Handbook. The condopudbuilder website (above) can also be accessed for verification of condominium projects previously approved or accepted for VA home loan purposes. VA does not perform or accept "spot approvals" in condominium projects.
