SUBJ: VA TELEVISED TRAINING BROADCAST - Wednesday, January 23, 2002

The purpose of this release is to announce a special interactive satellite training broadcast for lenders on
January 23, 2002 (11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Eastern Time). This broadcast is intended to introduce The Appraisal
System (TAS) which will replace the current VA Assignment System (VAAS).

Why has VA scheduled this broadcast?

VA Loan Guaranty Service has scheduled this broadcast to introduce TAS to lenders. TAS will be the system that
lender staff use to request appraisal assignments and to issue Notices of Value (NOVs). TAS will replace the need
for lenders’ Staff Appraisal Reviewers (SARs) to package and send copies of reviewed appraisals and NOVs to
VA at the time they are issued.

Where can this broadcast be viewed in New England and New York?

This free broadcast can be viewed at our Regional Loan Center, 275 Chestnut St., Manchester, New Hampshire,
the VA Regional Office at 245 W. Houston St., New York City, or the VA Regional Office at 111 W. Huron St.,
Buffalo, NY. Attendees should make reservations (and learn the room location where the broadcast will be
viewed) by contacting the appropriate office. Please indicate how many will attend. Reservations will be accepted
on a first come/first serve basis as space is limited.

Is it possible lenders can view the broadcast at their office?

For those who have fast Internet connections and no firewall problems, this broadcast will also be available
in "streaming video" format over the Internet. For details regarding this viewing option, please watch for the
announcement on Loan Guaranty’s website, www.homeloans.va.gov/L&S.htm under "Training." Since this
seminar is interactive, all attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Your continuing support of the VA home loan program is appreciated.
