SUBJ: VA Form 26-0286, VA Loan Summary Sheet, Revised

The purpose of this letter is to inform lenders that VA Form 26-0286, VA Loan Summary
Sheet, has been revised, and will be required to be submitted with every request for VA Loan
Guaranty beginning April 1, 2002.

Why was VA Form 26-0286, revised?

This form was revised because it will save us valuable time coding data into our
computer system. The most significant changes are Items 45A, 45B, and 45C, which
asks lenders to indicate what Automated Underwriting System was used, and the risk
classification. Item 46 requests that lenders provide the median credit score. These
data are being collected for statistical purposes. Please complete all items. It will
assist us in expediting the Loan Guaranty Certificate for you.

Will training be offered on how to complete the revised form?

There is a Satellite Training Broadcast scheduled from Noon to 2 PM on Wednesday,
May 22, 2002. You may also request training in the Manchester Regional Loan
    Center at your convenience.

Where can we obtain the revised form and what is the effective date?

VA Form 26-0286, VA Loan Summary Sheet, Revised, can be downloaded
from our web site at "www.vba.va.gov". The revised form will be required
for all VA Loan Closing Packages submitted after March 31, 2002.
    How can you contact us?

Please telephone us toll free if you have any questions or concerns. You can reach the
