Q: Can a veteran get a VA-guaranteed loan to purchase a condominium unit?

A: Yes, provided the unit is located in a condominium complex approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Q: Is there special mortgage insurance for veterans?

A: You may purchase Veterans Mortgage Life Insurance if you receive a VA grant for specially adapted housing.

Q: I am interested in purchasing a motor home. Can I use my VA home loan guaranty?

A: No. Motor Homes are not included in the VA Loan Guaranty Program.

Q: I am the widow of a Vietnam veteran who died as a result of a service-connected disability. My late husband never used his VA home loan entitlement. Am I eligible for this benefit?

A: Yes, if you are not currently married. The widow of a veteran of World War II or later period who died as a result of service-connected causes is eligible for the home loan benefit.

Q: Can I use my VA-guaranteed home loan to buy land I plan to build a house on in the future?

A: A VA-guaranteed loan cannot be used to buy undeveloped land unless it is part of a package that includes the building of your home.

Q: What happens when payments are not made on a VA-guaranteed home loan?

A: Failure to make payments on the loan may lead to foreclosure and the loss of the veteran's home. In addition, if the government is required to pay a claim as a result of failure to repay the loan, the veteran will become indebted to the government for the amount of the claim.
