In response to the critical need for housing for those displaced by
Hurricane Katrina, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has removed
all VA-owned properties (REO) from market nationwide. Please refer
to www.ocwen.com (VA's property management
contractor) for additional information, which will be posted as it
becomes available. Thank you for your patience as we assist those
displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Transportation
Information
Albuquerque is well served by air, rail, and highway
connections with many cities in the Western United
States. While there are many factors, including cost,
that may influence your choice of a mode of
transportation to/from Albuquerque, there are some
factors that need to be considered.
If you are considering
driving...
Albuquerque is located at the cross of Interstate 25
and Interstate 40. Interstate 25 runs from El Paso, Texas
northward through Denver, Colorado. Albuquerque is
approximately 430 miles from Denver and 266 from El Paso.
Interstate 40 runs from Knoxville, Tennessee to Los
Angeles. Albuquerque is approximately 460 miles from
Phoenix via I-40 and I-17, and approximately 1023 miles
from St. Louis.
If you are considering
flying...
Albuquerque International Airport is located at the
southern perimeter of the city and it is served by many
major U.S. airlines, including Southwest Airlines. The
airport seldom experiences weather delays, but can be
impacted by delays or cancellations at other sites. There
are several major car rental agencies in the main
terminal and direct shuttle service to the larger hotels
in the city.
If you are considering use of
Amtrak...
Amtrak has a stop in Albuquerque, but is seldom used
as a primary travel mode for business purposes.
Once you get here...
Taxis are plentiful at the airport and at most hotels.
Taxis are also fairly expensive. In most circumstances, a
car rental is a better alternative. Due to the small
geographic size of the city, most locations visited or
attended in the city will be within a ten mile radius.

areas. Average daytime high temperatures range from 47
